About the Host





The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association welcomes the challenge to host the 2013 U21 Men’s International Softball Championship. The SASA is well known across Canada with 49 years of Softball history operating the Adult league categories in Saskatoon. Presently the League has 24 men’s teams and 25 Women’s teams and has league play at Bob Van Impe Stadium, Gordie Howe Park & Glen Reeve Fields daily.

The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association is very active within the Sports Community overseeing the operations of the University of Saskatchewan Women’s Softball program.
Another major program is the 2009 World Men’s Legacy Program which provides funds for facility upgrades and softball programming for kids of all ages. Over the past 4 years the Legacy Fund has purchased 1,000 Softball uniforms for kids aged 4 to 9 years of age. One of the largest funded facility funded projects is the upgrading of Glen Reeve Fields with the installation of dugout, safety fences and home run fences at a cost of $105,000. The project was just completed in April of 2013 and brings the 6 Softball Diamonds at Glen Reeve Fields to an National & International level.

The Host Committee of the U21 Men’s International Softball Championship is comprised of 19 Individuals working many hours to ensure the event is a success. There will also be 125 volunteers required to ensure the athletes and spectators have a positive experience.
