ISA New Zealand performed an exciting comeback scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to beat a scrappy Nova Scotia  . The final runs were scored off of Cody Anthony, who was leading the Championship with a 1.08 ERA, at the time.  With New Zealand’s win over Nova Scotia  the standings in the Al Anderson’s Source for sports Red Pool have been determined. Ontario finished first at 5-0 followed by New Zealand at 4-1, Alberta at 3-2 and Nova Scotiaa 2-3. New Brunswick and Manitoba finished 5th and 6th respectively and will play in the Impact Diesel Performance Consolation Championship tomorrow at Gordie Howe Fastball Field.

Newfoundland beat NWT 13-3 to guarantee them a spot in the top 2 in their pool that means they play at 10 or 12 tomorrow.

The first game of the playoffs has been determined. Manitoba will play NWT  at 10:00 at Gordie Howe in the Consolation round.

Ontario's George Armstrong had to settle for a 5 inning, one hitter after a lead off single in the 5th. He led his team to a 7-0 win over New Brunswick

British Columbia secured 4th place in the Saskatoon  Inn Black Pool with a 6-1 win over Quebec. Brad Peck threw a 2 hitter. The final placings in the Black pool will see NWT in 5th and Quebec in 6th.

ISA New Zealand rides a 7 run first inning to beat Alberta 7-5. This creates a possibility of a 3 way tie for second in the pool, as an ISA New Zealand loss to Nova Scotiatonight, will have Alberta, Nova Scotiaand ISA New Zealand all at 3-2. The final placings will be determined by plus/minus in pool play.

In the first game of the day, New Brunswick beat Manitoba 6-3 to earn their first win of the Championship. Braden Scott got the complete game victory.

Thursday

With their 19-7 win over Quebec, Saskatchewan has scored 34 runs in 10 innings of play today. They moved into first place by themselves in the SaskatoonInn - Black Pool with a 4-0 record. Newfoundland’s big win over Argentina really makes things interesting as those 2 teams sit at 3-1 and one game behind Saskatchewan. Finishing first or second in the pool will provide a team with 2 lives in the playoffs. The final game of the preliminary round Friday at 8:30 at Bob Van  Impe Stadium will feature Saskatchewan and Argentina. If Saskatchewan wins, the placements will be clear as they will be first and Newfoundland second. If they lose, runs for and against come into play clouding things up considerably.

In the Red- Al Anderson’s pool Ontario looks to be ready to claim first, as they are already sitting with a 4-0 record including wins over their two closest opponents Alberta and ISA New Zealand. Those two teams play each other at 1:00 at Bob Van Impe Stadium. The winner will place second to Ontario and will be in good shape going into the playoffs.

What a day for Newfoundland's Jeremy OReilly . In the two Newfoundland wins he went 5 for 6 with  2 home runs and  9 RBI.

Newfoundland smashed out 16 hits in four innings to destroy Argentina 13-3. Argentina went through 5 different pitchers in the first two innings as they could not keep the Newfies at bay. Newfoundland now creates confusion in the race for first in the Saskatoon Inn Black Pool. Saskatchewan has a chance to move into first place by themselves if they beat Quebec next.

Ontario downs Manitoba 9-0 in 5 innings. Ontario pitchers held Manitoba to 1 hit.

Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories combine for 29 hits. Saskatchewan wins 15- 8.

New Brunswick battles New Zealand into extra innings. The Kiwi's exploded in the  8th for 6 runs to win 8-2.

Newfoundland wins 12-2 against BC on 5 home runs

The upset alert is now over as Quebec almost produced the upset of the tournament.  Argentina climbed back from a 7-2 deficit to beat a scrappy team from Quebec 10-9.

What a game! Alberta scores 9 in the bottom of the 6th, thanks in part to Keegna Arcand's grand slam home run and go up 11-6. Nova Scotia  fights back with 2 in the bottom but falls short 11-8.

Wednesday

The action continues today at the U21 Men’s International Softball Championship in Saskatoon.  The first game of the day at 11:00 at Bob Van ImpeStadium features highly regarded Alberta with (five players from our last Jr. National Team) taking on the defending bronze medalists from Nova Scotia

The two international teams play today. ISA New Zealand will try to come back after a hard fought 13-10 loss to championship favorite Ontario, when they play New Brunswick at 2:00 at Gordie Howe.  Undefeated Argentina will kick off the night's actions at Bob Van ImpeStadium at 6:30 with a huge match up against Newfoundland (who have 11 players  from the 2012  U21 Canadian Championship Team)  both these teams have high powered offenses so it should be an exciting affair.

Saskatchewan plays two big games today. After wins over Newfoundland and BC, Dave McCullough’s crew finds themselves in a first place tie with Argentina in their pool. They will take on Northwest Territories at 3:00 and Quebec at 8:30, both games at Bob Van ImpeStadium. These are critical match ups as at least one win will set up Team Sask for a first place showdown in the Saskatoon Inn Black Pool with Argentina, Friday at 8:30 in the last game of the preliminary round. It is critical to finish in the top 2 in your pool as this will allow for 2 lives in the playoff round that starts Saturday at 10:00 am.

Ontario 13 New Zealand  10 Ontario wins a big game, putting a stranglehold on first place in their pool.

A solid pitching performance by Justice Keshane as he only allowed 3 hits plus he had 12 K's and led Saskatchewan to a 4-1 victory over BC.

Huemul Mata  pitches 3 innings and Julian Fernandez pitches 2 for a no hitter as Argentina beats Northwest Territories 9-0 in 5 innings.

Newfoundland put up 5 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th to beat Quebec 9-0 in 5 innings.

Nova Scotiadefeats Manitoba 6-0.

Alberta handles New Brunswick easily  9-2 in 5 Innings. New Brunswick were held to 3 hits by Alberta's Josh Sevcik. Taylor Schubada went 2/2 with  a homer.

Tuesday

In game one of the day, Michael Turner hit a walk off 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th to give BC a 5-4 win. BC gets their first win and NWT their first loss.

No huge Nova Scotiacomeback against Ontario. Unlike against New Brunswick earlier they were  not able make up a massive deficit and lose 12-2

Saskatchewan wins low scoring affair. After everyone was averaging 13 runs per championship game in the first six games,  Saskatchewan and Newfoundland could only score 5. Good thing for Saskatchewan they had 4 of them as they recorded key the 4-1.

Alberta gets their first win, 11-2 versus Manitoba. A tough way to start for Manitoba, playing two of the top teams in the championship

Northwest Territories gets a huge win, scoring 3 in the 6th inning to come from behind and beat Quebec 5-3

Nova  Scotia completes the comeback... down 7-0 and then 8-1 they come back to beat New Brunswick 9-8

Argentina kept up the "international onslaught" as they beat up on British Columbia 14-3, hitting four home runs, including one that went over the scoreboard.

Another one of the favorites, ISA New Zealand got off to a great start by destroying Manitoba 16-1 in 3 innings.

Game one at 11:00 featured two of the pre- tournament favorites Ontario and Alberta. Ontario pounded out 6 runs in the in the first four innings against Steven Normand and cruised to an 11-1 victory.
