Honorary chairman

Alex Agostino is acclaimed in the word of baseball, not only in Quebec, but also in North America for his success as a

former player, a coach and now a scout for the major league team The Philadelphia Phillies. We are honoured to have

him serve as Honorary Chairman for the 2017 edition of the Canadian Softball Championship.

In addition to his success as a pitcher, Alex Agostino was also an influential coach in Quebec. His numerous

experiences included contributing his professional knowledge to Baseball Quebec as technical director. Furthermore,

he won, in 1990, the Canadian Championship with the Quebec junior team as the assistant coach and was appointed

head coach for the national team in 1994, whith whom he got to the World Championship. It is worth noting that

Mr Agostino also worked as a coach for the Major League Baseball, where he was tasked with developing baseball in

Europe. In parallel to his coaching positions, he also worked on expanding Sport Studies programs, which significantly

contributed to baseball’s influence in Quebec.

He continues to leave his mark on the world of professional baseball, as demonstrated by his scouting for the Montreal

Expos, Miami Marlins, and currently for the Philadelphia Phillies. Mr Agostino also finds the time to be involved with

Empire Baseball Academy, the only academy in Quebec that offers young players a team of professional baseball

coaches such as Ivan Naccarata, former player for the Capitales of Quebec and Russel Martin, catcher for the Toronto

Blue Jays, who is part of the team of coaches according on his availabilities. He also acts as an advisor to assure the

quality of the level of excellence of the Academy.

All in all, there is no question that Alex Agostino is a baseball legend. Through his involvement and talent, he brilliantly

pushed baseball forward and has continued to promote this wonderful game for more than forty years. Thus, it is with

great joy and immense pride that we welcome him to our team in 2017.
